To accomplish this task, please go through the following steps:
Step One:
First you will be assigned in pairs (groups of three are only assigned by teacher). Please jot down each other’s email or cell phone so that you are able to communicate outside of class for this.
Both you and your partner must choose an apostle from the list of the twelve apostles found in the book of Matthew 10:2-4. You can read these verses online at Bible Gateway. Please write this choice on the board so that all the apostles are covered by the class as a whole.
After receiving approval from teacher, you will assume the role of researchers and move on to Step Two.
Step Two:
Assuming the role of researchers, please open up a word processing document or a text-editor document to collect information on your choice of an apostle as you visit the Web site listed below.
Visit the following Web sites listed in the Resource section (below) and jot down the answers to the following questions making sure to cite the reference in proper MLA format in your notes.
Define an apostle
What is the definition of an apostle?
Can there be or are there any apostles by definition today?
Incorporate these questions into your opening scene of your documentary
Determine all areas where your apostle preached
create a map using a paint program (or copy an ancient map into a paint program)
clearly mark the routes or places that your apostle visited/was historically seen/or preached.
Incorporate this image with voice over into your documentary
Determine your apostle’s martyrdom
discover the story of how your apostle was killed
create a short movie clip on either a re-enactment (if possible) of his death or a soliloquy given by your apostle of his impending death sentence.
Determine how your apostle was presented in Art over the years
Download 3 images of your apostle as presented in Art
Incorporate these images into your movie with voice over describing the painter, the image, the significance (if any), and the era in which the image was painted.
Determine if there exists any biblical record or recorded “rumors” of miracles performed by your apostle
Cite any references that record your apostle performing a miracle
Incorporate images into this reference (or provide a short video skit) on a recorded miracle
Determine what is a patron saint
Cite any references that record your apostle as a patron saint
Give the origin of country or culture that regards your apostle as a patron saint
On-line Bible with many variations (KJ, NKJ, American, NIV, etc..)
Step Three:
Producing & Editing Your Video: You both will assume the role of film producers and editors as you compile or assemble your documentary.
Using the storyboard in your movie program, insert all necessary media type (movies, photos, sounds).
Insert all your images into the movie project (with copyright in small print in each respective image)
Insert a title frame with transition effects
Insert background music for the start of your documentary
Insert your voice as voice-over your inserted images (like Documentaries) as you give pertinent information on your apostles.
Insert a “commercial” break into your documentary with either a real commercial or a skit of a commercial (less than 20 seconds)
Edit film as necessary for transitions, sound, images, titles, credits, text boxes on frames, music, and sound
Exporting Your Video.
Using your movie-making program, export your production to convert it into a viewable format (.mov, .avi, .mv4). Please note that the movie extension given will be determined by either the program you are using or the type of conversion you choose. If using iMovie, use the “Share” menu, “Export to QuickTime” and choose the .mov format as opposed to the .m4v (iTunes) format.
Pay close attention to the location of your exported movie. Once exported, make a backup by dragging the exported movie onto a flash drive.
Burning Your Video.
Please burn your video to CD either by using a CD burning software such as Nero or use the built-in CD burning utility found on your operating system (OSX or XP/Vista/7).
Write your names and title of your movie on your CD using sharpie (or create a CD label if you have such equipment).
Submit your CD to your teacher for presentation.
Step Four:
You will assume the role of presenter.
Play your documentary in front of your audience (teacher and class)
At end of documentary, allow time for question & answer period.
Step Five:
Submit your documentary as a .mov, .mv4, or .wma file (movie file exported from movie program) for grading on either CD, DVD, or drop in drop box on teacher computer.
